Lighten Up

So I've been a little restless with my hair as of late.  I keep cutting it, trimming it, gradually changing the color...but nothing seems to ever "do it" for me.  I decided to go to someone new the other day, and try a super subtle ombré look.  My new girl is so sweet and easy to relate to that I can't ever see myself going anywhere else from now on.  See for yourself.  Nothing too drastic, but I'm in lurve with my new look.

Boring brown, blah blah blah...

Voilà!  A few sunny streaks and some honest-to-goodness toner later, and I am a new woman.  I feel like I'm looking summer right in the eye saying, "I may look like crap in a bikini, but damn it I've got some sexy ass summer-ready hair.  So HA!"

So yeah...onto that whole bikini part.  One step at a time, I suppose.

Why Hello, Miss Richie.

Wowza.  I've always been a fan, but Nicole Richie looks absolutely breathtaking in these shots via That magazine.  Just goes to show that petite girls are taking over the world...mua-ha-haaa.

But seriously.  I hope I look like that after 2 kids.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's hair-raising post.  Let's hope my new hairstylist is a hit.  Keep your fingers crossed!

A Few Things...

Here are a few things around the blog/internet world that have recently caught my eye-

Bailey's heartwarming and excruciatingly real story over @ Peppermint Bliss

Some exciting LA restaurants I can't wait to try on our trip next month...Here, here, & here.

Are you as excited about the newest Gatsby film coming out next year?  Isla Fisher was just cast as Myrtle.  I'm rather obsessed with the 1974 version, myself.

I've been a long-time fan; finally this fashion staple gets some street cred.

I am freakishly and disturbingly thrilled about The Royal Wedding...

I'm in desperate need of a serious closet overhaul.  Some items I'm currently lusting over:

Hope you're all enjoying your mid-week obligations! Only 3 days left until our beloved weekend returns.

Come Fly With Me

I had such an amazing time today with my dear friend Ali, author of the lovely blog, A Pearl in the World.  We ventured up to Mt. Hamilton, the highest peak in our area, boasting about 4,200 feet.  It houses a series of telescopes, and has some of the best views around.  An annoyingly dense layer of fog blanketed the valley below, but made for some lovely photography, in my opinion.

It's Laurentine, Mr. Hamilton if you're nasty

We rounded off our wonderful morning with coconut waffles & mimosas at a locally loved restaurant, The Evergreen Inn.  Thank you Miss Ali for the amazing photography and for styling/posing my clueless self!

What did you lovelies do this weekend?

A Place in the Sun

Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I headed up to Angels Camp, a small city outside Yosemite.  It was wonderful to get away for a few days, doing nothing but enjoying the great outdoors, visiting little antique shops, and relaxing in a hot tub.  (Did I mention our timeshare is BALLER?!)  I always love a good road trip with my lovie.

I collect matchboxes, both vintage, and from my travels.  Obviously these little treasures had me giddy.

I was treated to the best steak of my life, courtesy of my bf's mad cooking skillz.

What is it about a mini vacay that has us constantly yearning for the next one?  Sigh.  R&R is always necessary in my book!

Hope all you lovelies had a glorious weekend!

An Affair to Remember

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending an event at the lovely La Boutique in San Francisco, courtesy of the always fabulous Ruby Press.  It was the boutique/gallery's first anniversary, and they showcased Agnés Boudry's line, Collection 66.  Agnés was such a sweetheart, and everything in the collection was beautiful!

It was a dream come true to meet all of the Ruby Press gals; each and every one of them was so charming.  I've been a longtime reader of their carefully curated blog.  If you haven't gotten a chance to read it, you're missing out!  Click here to be whisked away to a blogger's paradise.

It most certainly was!

The enchanting Ruby Press team

Many thanks to everyone for an unforgettable evening, and a big thank you to my friend Louise for accompanying me last minute! xox

SJ Eats: A Movable FAIL.

Last Saturday, I was uber excited to try this rendezvous of food trucks (my fave) called SJ Eats: a Movable Feast.  It's a shame my anxiety set in before we stepped out of the car, greeted by this:

{courtesy of this lovely blog}

Yeah, ummm...no, gracias.
So we headed out to our tried and true favorite brunch spot, Bill's, where I sunk my teeth into this bit of strawberry nutella heaven:

Ain't she a 'beaut?

And that, my friends, is how it's done.

Sigh.  I heart weekends.
The bf even convinced me fishing was a good idea (anything's a good idea after a feeding frenzy of such epic proportions; one is incapable of objecting to much)

Can you tell I have a thing for rusty locks?

Until we meet again, SJ Eats.  I hope that next time around, you won't be so ill-equipped.
