Gay It Forward

To beat the mid-week blues yesterday, some friends and I went to one of my all-time favorite sushi spots. (I know..twice in one week!) We grubbed on tons of yummy rolls, and downed copious amounts of $1 sake.  We then ventured downtown for hump day happy hour for killer margs and humongous pieces of mediocre cake.

We also started trending the best saying ever, "Gay It Forward," since I have the privilege of being friends with one of the sweetest gays in the world!  So if you're on Twitter, please help us continue the movement and remember to #gayitforward.  This summer's off to a great start, and I can't wait for the adventures to continue!

I had the day off today and got an incredible amount done...slept in, had a True Blood marathon, took a nap, and ate pizza.  I know, it's tiresome just thinking about it!

Tomorrow I'm going to a sure-to-be marvelous hilltop party at Ali's house, and I have to work this weekend in San Francisco.  For the fourth, we're going to a nearby city we usually go to every year to watch fireworks, and I can finally get my hands on this drool-worthy ice cream from Blue Bunny! I hope you all have a wonderful & safe holiday weekend filled with cocktails and sparklers :)

Birthday Soiree

What a weekend!  My new Macbook Pro came in and it is FABOOSH!  Definitely going to be better for blogging and photography endeavors.  It was a pain in the arse to transfer everything over, and I may or may not have lost most of my phone contacts in the process, but hey...this sexy comp is worth it, and I cleaned out my phone book without lifting a finger.  Yeah, optimism.  You should try it sometime.

I also celebrated the golden birthday of a dear little pearl of mine, Ali of A Pearl In The World.  I know, she needs to update her page with one of her amazing posts; that's what I keep telling her!  It was a wonderful day/night filled with chavelas, greasy Mexican food, & fist pumping.  I hope you had the time of your life, Al! Love you! :)

Pretty, pretty pearl. Cheers to a great year ahead!

Summer & Sushi

Today marks the first day of the second best season of the year.  The rays were intense as sticky heat crept up slowly to a peak by midday, lingering well into the night.  Just the type of weather I love...so what better way to celebrate than a sushi date with my bubba boo?  And an impromptu backyard photo sesh, of course.

I'm wearing a gorgeous bracelet that one of my best friends sweetly gifted me.  I'm one lucky gal!

A cool shower is just what I need to calm my nerves right about now.  Cheers to summer, and to many more days exactly like this one.

Pearls Gone Wild.

I definitely had my fill of debauchery in San Diego last weekend.  My friend Lauren is about to get mawwied and we had to go out in proper bachelorette style.  Poolside mimosas, fine cuisine, and raging (almost) all-nighters...you get the picture.  It was an all-around fabulous time in a whale's vajayjay.

I have hot friends.  So sue me!

Dangling ding dongs ran rampant

Man, I love that city.

3 am photo sesh.  Too bad we didn't get to try out all of our "situations"

D & D.

Definitely got some HILAR bachelorette pics.  But we are ladies, and I shall only post the first of the naughty bunch. ;)

Note to self: never trust Italian pedi cab drivers.  But definitely give it a try at least once!

'Twas a wild weekend, indeed.

Until next time, San Diego...stay classy ;)

In A Funk

I've been feeling out of it lately, plain and simple.  It happens about 2-3 times a year where I just...get into a funk.  It's part lightweight depression,  part boredom, part blog/job/travel envy.  But this time, I just want to get out of California...for a long period of time.  I need a change, but for real this time.  I'm tired of it here.  I am so fortunate to live in California, have a job I love, and have supportive friends and family.  Regardless, something just isn't quite right.  I want to see what else the world has to offer because quite frankly, it's downright depressing to save every penny I have in hopes of eventually owning a tiny house in a horrible part of town, in which I will have invested a small fortune.  The Bay Area is notorious for outlandish real estate prices, and I'm trying to buy a home sooner rather than later.  So many things are on my mind, and I feel like I just need a sign.  Sorry for the rant, but I'm so restless I can hardly stand it.  Hopefully things come together soon; I know everything has a way of working itself out.  For now, all I can say is...merrr =/

Three.

My sweets, I have been M.I.A. as of late and for that, I sincerely apologize.  I've been searching high & low for inspiration but alas, it is nowhere to be found.  It feels as though I've been non-stop working, or staying busy with this, that & the other thing. *le sigh*

Anywho, I wanted to share three lovely things that have captured what little is left of my attention recently.

1. My mama pie gifted me with this book for my birthday, and it's absolutely wonderful!  As a fashion junkie, I've read countless styling books and wannabe how-to's of the wardrobe world, but every other book seems to fall short.  This book, (written by the lovely creators of Who What Wear,) features gorgeously current yet essential pieces and styling advice that would make The Olsen twinsies blush...or at least think twice about their hobo/boho hot-ass-mess-ness.

2. GAGA.  Need I say more?  Wow, guys...I am so beyond impressed with our Lady's third album.  At first, I was honestly turned off by the all too familiar club pump beats, but after a few playbacks I realized that this was no ordinary record.  Every song has its own unique personality and stands out among the rest.  One might assume Gagaloo has chosen quantity over quality with Born This Way, since there are 17 tracks.  But I genuinely love every song; no favorites.  Errr.... Bloody Mary, Government Hooker, Fashion of His Love.  Whaaa? It's amazeballs, truly.

3. Indie actress and folk songstress extraordinaire Zooey Deschanel has created another soon-to-be cult phenomenon, Hello Giggles. It is "the ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative females."  Translation: my holy place. Head on over for your daily dose of inspiration, cuteness, and duh...giggles.

Needless to say, I haven't had much time to utilize my mad photography skillz, but I swear I'm on that task like white on rice.  Patience is a virtue, little love bugs.  Cross my heart, I foresee many goodies in the near future.  Stay tuned.
