Let's Be Real.

Since we all know who was best-dressed last night at the Oscars, despite a not-so-flattering hair color, (see below) let's get down to some honorable mentions.

Emma Roberts worked it in Jenny Packham

Though she attempted her fiercest fug-face,
Mila Kunis was still radiant in Elie Saab

love, love, LOVED Cate Blanchett in this daring Givenchy number
Emma Stone kept it fun and chic in Chanel Haute Couture

Mandy Moore is ravishing in Monique Lhuillier, though I wish
the dress color didn't match her skin tone so perfectly.

Down to Business

I may be known to push the wardrobe envelope in the workplace, and perhaps garner a few judgmental sideways glances in the process, but I feel it's necessary to wear what makes you happy...especially at work.  I wore this outfit to work today, which is tame compared to other 'fits I've gotten away with in the past.  A good pair of high-waisted trousers is so hot right now, plus they're flattering on pretty much all body types.  This ensemble saw me through a lovely lakeside business lunch, as well as 2.5 hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic.  (Hey, it's not always glitz and glam, so you gotta be comfy!)  Simple, comortable, & fresh.

Balance

From my perspective, it's really important to maintain balance in my outfits.  If I wear an oversized sweater or blouse, I balance it out with slim slacks or leggings.  In this case, I wanted to bring a little femininity to some otherwise standard slim cargos.  The end result would be good for a night out in the city, or a slightly dressy date night.

Good thing I jumped on the blush bandwagon right as it got really hot, because I am all on this shade like white on rice!  What could be more girly and romantic than this rosy nude hue?  I think it will transcend nicely from spring to fall this year, plus it's a nice juxtaposition to the hot neon shades this season, too.  Totally versatile and excellent for everyday wear!

Stay a Little Longer...

I absolutely can't stand when the weather teases me with the slightest touch of Spring warmth.  To say it has me yearning for everything the season has to offer (minus the showers) is a severe understatement.  I used to hate Spring because the past few years have been super cold and rainy.  But I'm starting to remember the reasons I love it...a May birthday doesn't hurt.  The romance, warmth, and pure loveliness of a bright Spring day are just what everybody needs right about now!  Sigh.

Sunday Style

There has been a brief lapse in the torrential rain we've been getting, so i took full advantage to dress in something other than my Sarah Palin boots and puffy jacket.  Lately, I have been lovin me some stripes in any shape/form (they are so versatile and versatility is a must in my opinion!)  I brightened up these stripes with some ripped jeans and a recently thrifted blazer.

Details
*American Rag jeans
*H & M striped top
*J. Crew blazer (thrifted)
*Forever 21 heels
*D & G watch

This look would be perfect for after work drinks with the ladies.  I figure I don't need any sun with this bright little number!

Nuptials of Yesteryear

Have you seen the new BHLDN bridal line from Anthropologie?  I've been seeing some of the lovely dresses all throughout the blog world recently, and they are beautiful!  Here are some lovely examples of BHLDN creations:

Gorgeous, right?  Anywho, on their website they have a feature titled Nuptials of Yesteryear filled with devastatingly beautiful pictures of weddings from the past.
You don't have to be obsessed with weddings like myself to appreciate the unfading beauty of timeless love.

Current Obsession

With all this rain we've been getting in the Bay Area lately, it's a safe bet that you'll almost always catch me in one of my favorite pairs of boots.  I've been rocking these 4 beauties most recently, shielding my tootsies from the harsh outside elements.

1. Justin Bay Apache boots
2. Sam Edelman Effie booties
3. Chinese Laundry Night Owl boots
4. Forever 21 Shearling Cuff boots

#1 gets me through some serious hoe-downs, while # 2 just came in from my favorite city in the world, New Orleans.  #3 over-the-knee's are just all-around fab, and #4 brings out my inner Sarah Palin.  "I'm a pitbull with lipstick, dontcha know?!"

What gets you through the winter blues?

Oh, Gagaloo.

So, as some may know i'm a pretty huge GaGa fan...that is, until this past weekend. First off, I highly anticipated the release of Born This Way, which sooo did not tickle my fancy. I was one of those nerds who pre-ordered the album through Target to get a free download of the song first thing on Friday morning. With baited breath, I pressed play and listened excitedly. WRONG. It really just sounds like she's trying too hard to be "out there," and I know this is GaGa we're talking about, but still...She has done better, most def.

Now, let's talk Grammy's. I'm just...over it. Like, I get it, you're different, you're unique. But seriously your new bone structure freaks me out and why are you trying so hard to look like Courtney Love circa 1998?? Hot. Mess.

Please don't disappoint with the remainder of your album. I mean it.
