Drunk in SF (Because that's the most accurate title)

So...my boyfriend and I planned a lovely little day in San Francisco on Sunday. (We even spent hours painstakingly tracking the MUNI route so we could travel via public transportation all day!) Everything started off as planned: we paid a visit to The Buena Vista, a small restaurant that Roehl's been dying to visit, one that just so happens to serve up some lethal "world famous" Irish coffee.

Let me just start off by saying that this is not going to be one of those typical oh-how-lovely-and-glorious-life-is posts.  I'm going to conclude that thought with the wise words of an old friend: "Never mix your liquor. Just DON'T. DO. IT." Now you know, kids. Moving on...

After my little Irish coffee experience, I had quite a decent buzz going, and I was ready to tackle our next destination- brunch. We dined at Paul K, because this is one of the better places to get your bottomless mimosa on, and we all know how much I love a good bottomless mimosa sesh. Here's where that whole "no mixing" thing came into play. After 4 glasses, I was embarrassingly sloshed with an oncoming mimosa coma. Roehl was smart and didn't want to get tired, so he had opted out of said self-induced mimosa coma.

At one point, I even broke a champagne glass in half with my obnoxious drunk girl strength, as I was literally just setting it down on the table (I swear!) The rest of the day had all gone to shit, and I had no desire to partake in vintage shop festivities, which is unheard of for this gal. I was tired, disoriented, and just plain drunk. It sucked.

I got a few good pictures out of it though...

I wish I had a more lively story to tell you, but that's the truth folks.  Plain & simple.  I suppose a do-over is in order. If any of you have some good old-fashioned daytime drunk stories, please share! We can commiserate together. :)

My First Time Whale Watching...

Along with the wedding on Saturday, we jam-packed our weekend with other adventures, including sake bombs on Friday for my friend's birthday, and whale watching on Sunday.  Other than dragging on for 5+ hours, it was a pretty cool experience.  I tried my best not to puke my brains out as the small boat bounced mercilessly along the Pacific  Ocean.  After a quick nap and 2 cup o' noodles, I felt a bit better and managed to have a good time.  We saw quite a few sea beasts, and even managed to snap a decent up-close shot, (see photo # 2.)

Obviously, I was ecstatic to be back on land, so we ventured out to lunch at one of our favorite Carmel restaurants, and then to the beach, of course!

I don't think I'll ever feel the need to go whale watching ever again; I'm somewhat more of an adrenaline junkie.  That's why I can't wait to finally go white water rafting in a few weeks!  God, I love Cali...it's going to take a lot of adjustment if we ever decide to move.  Hope you all had a fun-filled dreamy weekend!

My Lovely Weekend

How was everyone's mama's day weekend?  Hope yours was as lovely as mine was.  On Saturday, my boyfriend and I finally dusted off our bikes and took a very necessary ride through the neighborhood.  On summer nights, we like to ride aimlessly for hours, crossing railroad tracks, counting stars, and grabbing ice cream cones.

We biked to Hayes Mansion, a local popular wedding/conference venue that I've always been in love with for its dreamy Gatsby/Hearst Castle-like vibe

Love seeing classic cars on the road.

For mother's day, I made a photo garland with some old pictures.  My mom loved it!  Here are some closeups:

In our old hometown, Carmel.  I must've been about 4 years old.

My lovely paternal grandmother, Eloise.

This is one of my favorite photos of me & my mom, taking a little catnap :)

My beautiful maternal grandmother, Araceli.  I have this picture framed on my dresser.

I tried out a new mini mocha cheesecake recipe that I found here.  It's actually really good and low in fat!  However, I would definitely advise using non-paper liners...

Come Fly With Me

I had such an amazing time today with my dear friend Ali, author of the lovely blog, A Pearl in the World.  We ventured up to Mt. Hamilton, the highest peak in our area, boasting about 4,200 feet.  It houses a series of telescopes, and has some of the best views around.  An annoyingly dense layer of fog blanketed the valley below, but made for some lovely photography, in my opinion.

It's Laurentine, Mr. Hamilton if you're nasty

We rounded off our wonderful morning with coconut waffles & mimosas at a locally loved restaurant, The Evergreen Inn.  Thank you Miss Ali for the amazing photography and for styling/posing my clueless self!

What did you lovelies do this weekend?

A Place in the Sun

Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I headed up to Angels Camp, a small city outside Yosemite.  It was wonderful to get away for a few days, doing nothing but enjoying the great outdoors, visiting little antique shops, and relaxing in a hot tub.  (Did I mention our timeshare is BALLER?!)  I always love a good road trip with my lovie.

I collect matchboxes, both vintage, and from my travels.  Obviously these little treasures had me giddy.

I was treated to the best steak of my life, courtesy of my bf's mad cooking skillz.

What is it about a mini vacay that has us constantly yearning for the next one?  Sigh.  R&R is always necessary in my book!

Hope all you lovelies had a glorious weekend!

'Til Summer Comes Around

I apologize for the insanely long post, but i went a little crazy with my new camera last Sunday, as you can see.  Bear with me...the sun was out, it was a gorgeous day by the beach...i.e., i was happy as a clam!  We spent the day strolling the cliffs by the beach in Capitola, and then had dinner & wine on the pier.  I convinced the bf to walk along the boardwalk and it was so eerie to see all of our favorite rides completely empty.  It was so hauntingly beautiful...

On the way home, we passed by a carnival (I am a sucker for all things carnie,) and i tried to capture the essence of the lights, sounds, and aromas.  These are the days that I live for!

Oh, yes...I'm wearing a Forever 21 dress, Grass Collection sweater, tights from Target, Chinese Laundry over-the-knee boots, and flea market sunglasses.  If only every day could be this sweet!
