A Tribute To My Best Pearl!

This is kinda sad, y'all. My best friend of 15+ years just had a birthday, so I thought I'd create a little somethin' to celebrate. She's moving down south next month, and although I've coped with her passion for traveling in the past, it still hurts to think she'll be so far away. Below are some pictures from the past 5 years, one for each year. I love her with all my heart, and she'll always be my other half, my soul sista, my best pearl!

Neat Little DIY Project

I was so excited to start this cute (and quick!) little do-it-yourself project the other day. I totally ripped off the idea from something I found in a friend's house, and knew I just had to try it! What I did was I just took 2 old books that I'll never read again (though it was still tough,) and started by taking off the front and back covers. I left the binding intact, and began folding each of the pages in half, one by one. The form just kind of shaped itself, and the less perfect, the better. It really is a sweet little idea for a bookshelf or nightstand; it adds the perfect eclectic touch.

Mad for Mad Men

Okay, so I'm a total nerd for feeling the way I do! I am obsessed with AMC's Mad Men and I just got done with Season 3. The allure of the hypnotic '60s style and gin-soaked board meetings draws me in every time! I couldn't help but to literally feel depressed after the last episode! It was only a matter of time before the Draper marriage deteriorated, but it was sad, nonetheless. I also literally spent over an hour trying to find this beautiful song from one of the episodes, and finally found success! Pathetic, indeed. While trying to find out when Season 4 starts, I found myself creating a Mad Men avatar, which I seriously contemplated posting on my facebook. HAHA. These are what my Sundays have boiled down to, people! And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Holy Ferosh.

Hot diggity! I almost passed out when I saw this video. I am an absolute DIEHARD GaGa fan and this shizz just blew my mind! GaGa & Beyonce collaborated to create an amazing song that I already liked, but now I can't live without it! The video is out of this world...I loved the can rollers, police tape suit, butch security guards, everything!!! I especially loved the Tarantino style and Pu$*y Waggon reference. Why can't all videos be this delish...and ORIGINAL!

Hitchcock Marathon!

Gorgeous shot of Kim Novak before her Vertigo fame

Enjoying my typical lazy Sunday the other day, I decided to have my own little Hitchcock marathon in the comfort of my bed. I watched North by Northwest, Vertigo, and Topaz. While North by Northwest was definitely my favorite, I was so intrigued by Vertigo that I started Wiki'ing everything Hitchcock! Pathetic, I know. Vertigo started off so slowly, but the melancholy music fascinated me through the thoroughly dramatic ending. And Kim Novak's 2 clashing personas kept me guessing the entire time. Rear Window is up next!

Hollywood's Most Glam Night

Okay, so it's been quite some time since my last post, so I thought I'd cover some of my favorite looks from the Oscars a few nights ago. After I rounded up all of my faves, I thought....Wow, I'm sensing a trend! (With the exception of Vera Farmiga, of course.)

An absolute stunner: Vera Farmiga in Marchesa
Who could forget the belle of the ball? Sandra Bullock in Marchesa
Have to admit I loved Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham
Demi Moore's drool-worthy gown by Atelier Versace
SJP in this fabulously '60s-inspired Chanel Couture gown

Loving Lanvin

All this deliciousness located here
Did I mention how much I am loving Lanvin's Spring 2010 collection? Alber Elbaz created a gorgeous fantasy of elaborate ruffles and draping that was positively breathtaking. The '60s updo's were to-die-for, and most of the looks seemed to be any-age-appropriate. And that salmon-colored material? Luscious. Sigh. I think I'm going to sell my soul soon to wear any of the dresses for just one day.
